Chapter 567: Myra
Chapter 567: Myra
The direction spirit, which was scowling at Mr. Crow, immediately grinned and nodded eagerly.Lana handed him a piece of Axel’s cloth and said, "Can you lead me to where this person is?"
The direction spirit nodded while looking at Lana like a lovesick fool.
And soon it started to lead. Lana didn’t dare to use the teleportation talisman.
As much as they are amazing, in ghost zones, 90% of them malfunction. She didn’t dare take the risk.
The towering trees blocked most of the sunlight, creating long shadows between the trunks. Occasionally, a cold breeze would pass by, carrying the scent of moss and wet leaves.
After walking for nearly three hours, she suddenly heard a desperate cry. "Help!"
The voice belonged to a young girl. Without hesitation, Lana rushed toward the sound.
Branches snapped beneath her feet as she moved. When she arrived, her eyes narrowed immediately.
A young girl stood there, trapped in the grasp of an elderly man. The girl’s face was pale with fear.
Her eyes were filled with panic. The old man’s expression, however, was twisted and sinister.
The moment Lana saw him, she knew something was wrong. Mr. Crow immediately realized it as well.
He was about to warn her not to interfere when Lana moved. A talisman appeared between her fingers.
With a swift motion, she activated it. Golden light erupted outward. The elderly man’s face twisted in shock.
After all, he wasn’t a human. He was a ghost. The golden light struck him directly. A horrifying scream echoed through the forest.
His body rapidly disintegrated. Within seconds, he crumbled into ashes that scattered into the wind.
The forest became silent once again. The young girl stared in disbelief.
Then she released a long breath of relief. Without warning, she ran toward Lana and tightly hugged her leg.
"Thank you so much, Sister!"
Her voice was filled with gratitude. "Thank you so much, beautiful sister. You protected me."
Lana blinked before looking down. Only now did she get a proper look at the girl.
The child had beautiful black hair that nearly reached her waist. Her eyes were deep and dark, resembling polished black gemstones.
What surprised Lana the most wasn’t her appearance.
It was the girl’s aura. She seemed unbelievably innocent. Far more innocent than an ordinary child.
It was almost unnatural. Lana crouched down and offered a gentle smile. "Hi."
She extended her hand. "My name is Lana. What’s your name?"
The girl immediately grabbed her hand and shook it enthusiastically. "My name is Myra."
Lana nodded. "Nice to meet you, Myra."
After a brief pause, she asked, "Can you tell me how you ended up here? This forest is isolated and dangerous. Where are your parents?"
The moment those words were spoken, Myra’s expression became lost. "Parents?"
She tilted her head. "I don’t know."
Lana froze. "You don’t know?"
Myra slowly shook her head. Seeing that reaction, Lana became thoughtful. At the same time, Mr. Crow’s voice sounded through their mental link.
"Be careful."
His tone was unusually serious. "Something about this girl’s aura feels off."
Lana didn’t ask what he meant. Instead, she focused on Myra. "Myra, how long have you been living in these woods?"
To her surprise, Myra asked a question instead. "Are you very interested in that topic?"
Lana paused. Then she smiled and changed the subject. "Alright. Then can you tell me about your home?"
This time, genuine confusion appeared on Myra’s face. "My memories are very vague."
She lowered her gaze. "However, I remember living in a beautiful blue house somewhere inside these woods."
Lana nodded encouragingly. "Who gave you the name Myra?"
The girl immediately brightened. "My mother did."
A warm smile appeared on her face. "In fact, she was very beautiful."
Her eyes sparkled as she spoke. "She always wore white clothes."
Then the smile slowly faded. "Although... she often looked uncomfortable."
Lana quietly listened. "My dad always said she was in pain."
Myra frowned slightly. "I never understood why."
She looked down. "Whenever she was alone with Dad, she seemed to be suffering."
Then a small smile appeared. "But whenever she was with me, she always smiled."
Hearing those words, Lana felt a strange sadness. "Maybe she simply didn’t want you to see the painful parts of life."
Myra thought about it for a moment before nodding. Lana decided to change the subject again. "I’m planning to leave this forest today."
She smiled. "Do you want to come with me?"
Myra fell silent. After thinking for several seconds, she shook her head. "Not right now."
Her gaze drifted toward the deeper parts of the forest. "I want to keep looking for my parents."
A hopeful expression appeared on her face. "Maybe they’re searching for me too."
Lana didn’t pressure her. Instead, she offered another suggestion.
"How about this?"
She pointed toward the direction of the forest entrance. "I can take you to the reinforcement officers stationed nearby."
Myra listened carefully. "If your parents are looking for you, they’ll probably contact them first."
The girl hesitated. "What if they left a long time ago?"
Lana chuckled softly. "From everything you’ve told me, your parents must have loved you very much."
Her gaze fell upon Myra’s dress. The clothes were clean and carefully made.
It was obvious someone had treasured her. "I don’t think people who love their child that much would abandon her."
Myra looked down before slowly nodding. "Okay."
A small smile appeared on her face. "Then let’s go."
As they traveled through the forest together, Lana encountered several ghosts.
Most of them were surprisingly silly. One ghost even started dancing right in front of her.
Its transparent body twisted and spun dramatically as if performing on a grand stage.
Lana was certain that if she reacted even slightly, the ghost would have become even more excited.
So she simply ignored it. Other ghosts appeared afterward. Some attempted to lure Myra away.
Others suddenly jumped out from behind trees, trying to scare her. One particularly dramatic ghost even pretended to fall out of the sky.
