Chapter 346: Unbreakable Sutra
Chapter 346: Unbreakable Sutra
Blade firmly gripped his sword, his knuckles turning white, staring at Rose with a deep frown: "Awakening your powers doesn’t mean you have won. You aren’t the only one with bloodline powers."
The latent spirit energy in the arena violently shifted. A thick, oppressive red light started emanating from his body, fundamentally altering his aura as he slowly ascended into the air: "I am from the Lucio family, we bled and die for the empire... I will not back down to anyone!"
His eyes turned blood-red, signifying the absolute activation of his family’s ancestral trait. The next moment, the fabric of reality folded; he multiplied seamlessly, and all ten identical figures shot forward with supersonic speed.
Rose didn’t hesitate. Drawing upon her newly unlocked visual acuity, and with a wave of her hand, highly condensed light energy balls appeared all over the place. They locked onto the advancing figures and shot forward, all heading towards a specific target she believed was the true body.
BAM!!
The attack smashed flawlessly into Blade, but instead of the illusion shattering, a brutal, invisible force violently rebounded. Rose plummeted, and vomited a massive mouthful of dark blood.
’So that is his ability... He used illusion to create clones, and once these clones takes damage, it reverted the damage back to the attacker... But, the main issue here.’ She wiped her chin, forcing herself to stand as she moved her newly awakened, pure white gaze around the clones hovering aggressively around her.
’I don’t know the real one, even with my eyes... Why can’t I see through him?’ She thought, her confidence shaking. The Lucio family’s illusions weren’t just optical tricks; they were localized reality marbles that bypassed Soul Eyes’ first stage.
"Miss Rose... It’s an honor to fight you... But this will end here."
Blade’s voice sounded from everywhere at once, echoing all over the arena, as all the clones moved rapidly around her, forming an inescapable circle, perfectly placing her at the center of the trap.
"This is our Lucio family’s strongest ability... Defend well." He said, demonstrating the terrifying, honorable combat etiquette of the Eagle Empire’s vanguard.
The Clones all pointed their swords forward in unison. Highly concentrated red lights appeared on the tips of their blades, rapidly gathering energy, and shot forward, violently smashing together at the exact middle, directly in the air right above Rose.
"Lucio family unbreakable sutra!!" He yelled.
BOOOOM!!!
A devastating pillar of red light shot down from the merged attack, heading towards Rose with pure, unadulterated killing Intent. The sheer density of the attack locked the space around her.
’What is this?! What is this feeling?! Why... Why can’t I move?’ Rose asked in sheer horror. The weight of the sutra paralyzed her completely; all her joints, her spirit energy pathways, and even her newly awakened Soul Eyes proved to be completely useless against the absolute suppression.
WHOOSH!!
A figure instantly appeared directly above her, bypassing the arena’s teleportation wards entirely and stunning everyone. The sheer speed of the person was simply too fast for anyone to register. Everyone, including Blade, watched in absolute, mind-numbing shock, as Mirabella casually raised one slender finger, and the moment she touched the catastrophic, descending attack.
BOOOOM!!!!
It exploded violently outward, spreading a blinding shockwave all over the place. The sheer, overwhelming wave of raw, untethered energy instantly shattered all the illusionary clones like fragile glass, and forcefully threw the real Blade backward through the air.
He landed heavily on his feet, his boots dragging across the stone, staring at the figure hovering effortlessly above Rose in pure shock, and profound disbelief.
’The unbreakable sutra was broken with one finger?’ He thought in pure horror. The ultimate, generation-defining technique of the Lucio family, obliterated by a casual touch.
".....?!"
Davy and the massive audience blinked, staring at Mirabella in complete shock. The rule she had established prior was flawlessly executed. He coughed heavily again, trying to regain his professional composure, and stepped forward:
"Okay, Blade won this round!!" He yelled. By Mirabella interfering to save her teammate’s life, Rose was systemically forced to forfeit.
Rose collapsed heavily on the ground, desperately holding her chest, gasping for air: "That was close." She said, trembling from the residual pressure.
Mirabella floated down and landed gracefully before her: "You are still too kind." She said flatly, her blue eyes entirely devoid of sympathy.
Rose looked up at her in deep confusion, still trying to process the gap in their strength, and Mirabella continued, her tone low, and chillingly emotionless:
"I gave you all five legendary class skills each, but you didn’t use any? You underestimated your enemy and started with a weak attack, why he goes straight for the win... That is the main reason you lost." She criticized, coldly dissecting the tactical failure, and stretched her hand towards Rose.
"I... I didn’t use the skills because I haven’t fully Mastered them... If I lose control--"
"--I am here to stabilize things." Mirabella cut her off with absolute authority, and Rose looked up at her in deep surprised.
She slowly turned to Blade, who had already bowed and returned to his section, then looked back at her Captain. She had held back her most devastating spells due to sheer fear, not knowing Mirabella was completely willing to step in and forcefully suppress the fallout if she lost control; but the round was already announced. Her hesitation had cost her the match.
"I am sorry." She said, feeling the weight of her failure, taking Mirabella’s hand, as the Captain effortlessly helped her back to her feet.
"You don’t have to be. We already won this competition, what we are doing now is filling space." Mirabella said with terrifying arrogance. To her, the entire tournament was already a mathematically solved equation. With a flash of spatial light, she and Rose vanished from the stage, instantly reappearing on their academy’s designated section.
The coliseum remained dead silent for a moment before the announcer’s voice broke the tension.
"That was an interesting battle. Who would have thought the Eagle Academy has it in them!" Davy said with a wide, relieved smile, desperately trying to hype the crowd back up, and waved his hand as the arena’s restorative runes flared to life, and the shattered ground rapidly rebuilt itself.
"Now, let’s continue the match!" He said, and everyone in the stands turned their heads strictly to the massive holographic screen again, as the digital lottery rapidly spun before two names locked into place.
"Okay!! Let’s welcome Andrew from the sword academy, and Grace from the Dragon academy!!"
".....?!"
Grace was completely stunned, immediately gripping her Legendary class staff and turning her head to Andrew. The Sword Academy student already had a haughty, insufferable smirk plastered on his face, as he violently leaped forward from the viewing spot, landing heavily on the pristine arena ground.
"Andrew Is here!!" He yelled loudly, beating his chest and moving his arrogant gaze around the vast arena, soaking in the attention of the high nobles.
"There is no need to fight, I already won!!" He added arrogantly, entirely convinced of his own superiority, his boastful words causing an immediate, synchronized frown to form on absolutely everyone’s faces across the Dragon and Eagle Academy sections.
