Chapter 372: The Capital

Michael looked at the group standing in front of him with a calm expression on his face.

This group was led by none other than Benson, who had brought Bob to Michael, after Michael realized that Bob was a spy from the Blood Reapers syndicate.

Standing slightly beside him, to his left, was a chubby man who seemed to be in his late 40s, with brown hair streaked with gray, combed backwards. He had a round face and well trimmed beard.

His brown eyes were looking towards Michael from behind the rectangular glasses that he was wearing, surprise and doubt clear in them.

Apart from these two, behind them, there was a group of people that was wearing suits. They each stood there respectfully, looking at Michael with both awe and surprise.

Michael had already been informed about this group meeting him. Apart from Benson, the one slightly behind him was none other than Dwayne Richards, the founder of Vanguard Corporation, and the others behind them were the executives of the company.

When they were informed that Michael would be coming over, Dwayne insisted that they had to meet. Even though they had already seen Michael’s photos quite a few times, it was much better to meet in person.

Additionally, Dwayne was kind of pessimistic about Michael. He wanted to be sure that the very person who had acquired his entire company was actually capable.

He had his own doubts, especially considering that despite how huge Vanguard corporation was, after his acquisition, Michael had never been to the company.

And at the moment, they were on a helipad that was located on the top of the Vanguard Corporation building, the Vanguard Tower.

This building was very high in the air, with 90 floors in total. And on top of this building, there were three helipads.

"Welcome, Mr. Santos." Dwayne took the lead to welcome Michael. As for Benson, he nodded at Michael, as they had seen each other not long ago. Additionally, Michael had allowed Benson and the other bio humans to be casual around him.

Immediately after Dwayne spoke, the other executives also followed suit, welcoming Michael.

Michael nodded back at them, before he gazed at the two ladies who were currently standing behind him. "Let’s go. We can look around for a bit, before we start touring the city," he said.

The two ladies immediately nodded. Thereafter, Michael glanced at Adrian who was still within the helicopter that had brought them and said, "If you want, you can accompany us. You don’t necessarily need to go back to Brenton city today."

"No, I intend to go back, because there is something that I need to take care of. We are about to launch a new product, and this is a crucial moment that I’m needed at the company." Adrian shook his head as he responded.

"Then, why did you insist on bringing me over? You know, I can fly the helicopter?" Michael asked, his brows slightly raised.

"I’m obligated to do that. After all, I am your personal assistant. Even though I’m currently in charge of Sky Technologies, I cannot just neglect some of my responsibilities." Adrian responded seriously.

’This guy...’ Michael thought to himself, unsure what to think about this guy.

Eventually, he just shook his head and said, "Okay, you can make a decision later on. You can decide to continue being in charge of Sky Technologies, or you can have someone else take over, while you take on the responsibility of being my personal assistant.

But as you know, most of the time, I’m usually idle. So, if you want to exclusively be my personal assistant, you might have to learn how to stay idle."

Then, without waiting for Adrian to say anything, Michael turned around and began heading towards the door that led downstairs.

Benson and the others immediately followed, with the entire crowd leaving the top of the building, Adrian being the only one remaining.

He seemed to be deep in thought, but this did not last long, as about a few seconds later, he started the engine. Moments later, the rotor blades spooled up, gradually accelerating until they reached full speed, before the helicopter took off.

Michael and the two ladies toured the Vanguard Tower. Of course, they could not go through all the 90 floors. Instead, they went from department to department, mainly the major ones.

As for the minor departments, they were completely ignored. After all, Michael did not have much time to look around.

Unlike Michael who was just going through the motions, the two ladies were shocked by what they saw within the building. Neither of them had anticipated that Michael owned such a big company.

Even Carol, who had already known about a connection between Michael and Vanguard Corporation. She had not anticipated that Michael was the owner of this company, and not just a shareholder.

Additionally, she already knew about the fact that Vanguard Corporation was among the biggest security companies in the world. But now, being inside this building, and seeing the level of technology available, she was left shocked.

At the same time, she wondered, just what was Michael’s background? Clearly, this was a company that was owned by Michael. Then, what about his family? Just what kind of family did he belong to, that allowed him to be able to own such a massive company.

Of course, she had thought about the Santos family. As someone who was from the central province, it was impossible for her not to have ever heard about such a big name family.

But, she doubted that even that big family had the capability of allowing the offspring of the younger generation to own such a big company. That was unless Michael was the next in line in charge of the family.

On the other hand, Kate was shocked as she had not anticipated such a grandeur. She had been to the company that her mother was in charge of, but as compared to this, no, there was literally no comparison.

The two were on a completely different level. It was just impossible to be able to compare them.

At the same time, she kind of began getting to understand the kind of background that Michael possessed. It was no wonder that he had some connections within NEXUS.

At the thought of this, she realized, she might need to work hard. Even though she could not help Michael with issues such as management, she could help differently.

If this was the world that she initially knew, maybe, she would not have been of much assistance. But ever since she knew about the other side of the world, she understood that if she was strong enough, she could be very useful.

Therefore, she decided, after they returned from the auction, she would immediately focus on training.

And at this point, she was actually tempted to withdraw from NEXUS. After all, the training facilities that could be provided by NEXUS were definitely not of the same level as the one provided by Michael.

If not for the fact that she understood that she still needed to face real life and death battles, she might have decided withdraw.

While there was a simulation function within the training chamber, it definitely could not match real fights. There was a difference between knowing that this was just a training, and where a person knew that a single mistake would lead to them losing their lives.

As for the possibility of fighting against Michael’s enemies, in order to be able to gain more combat experience, Kate did not even bother to think much about that.

This guy, the way he liked lazing around in the villa, how many enemies did he even have? Maybe she might have to wait for several years in order to be able to face an opponent.

And by then, would she already not have been tremendously strong? If she faced weak opponents, there was no benefit at all.

With the two ladies having thoughts of their own, and subjected to various stares from the employees and other staff members within the Vanguard Tower, they finally finished the tour.

"Okay, we will be leaving now. You can make an arrangement on where we will be staying later on, because we are not leaving today. We might have to leave tomorrow." Michael stated as he stood outside the Vanguard Tower.

"Don’t worry, I already sorted that out the moment that you told me that you would be coming over. I have already gotten a big mansion for you. You can stay there anytime that you visit the capital." Benson immediately responded.

"Okay, you’ll give me the address later on, and the keys to the place." Michael stated before he got into a Maybach that had been prepared for him.

At the moment, both Carol and Kate had already gotten into the car, and were waiting for him. The two ladies sat at the back, while Michael sat on the passenger seat.

There was a driver, who was familiar with the city, who was going to be in charge of taking them around.

As the car began moving, the two ladies chatted at the back incessantly. Michael was not sure about how those two got close, but when he left them for a bit to go and freshen up, when he came back, he realized that the two had literally become ’best’ friends.

Michael did not pay much attention to what the two ladies were talking about, as he just focused on observing the scenery outside.

It was already six in the evening when they left the Vanguard Tower. Darkness had begun descending over the city, but rather than growing quiet, it became increasingly lively as neon lights illuminated the streets and the nightlife began to slowly flourish
