Chapter 336: I am Not Pregnant!
Chapter 336: I am Not Pregnant!
"What the hell is wrong with you, Stales?" Angela finally snapped out of her shock. Her face burned with anger and embarrassment. She could not believe she had almost fallen for his nonsense. "This is not funny. Don’t ever joke like that again."
Stales stared at her quietly and shook his head. There was pain in his eyes, but Angela was too annoyed to notice it. He did not even know how to explain things to her anymore. Did she really think he was lying?
"I am not pregnant," she said firmly as she snatched her box from him. She carried it to the bed close to the window and opened it. Her clothes were neatly folded inside. "Instead of standing there and saying rubbish, help me arrange my things."
"You are trying to avoid the truth," Stales said softly, but there was seriousness in his voice. He walked closer to her. "If you are really sure about this, then take a pregnancy test."
Angela laughed dryly as she pulled out some clothes and placed them inside the wardrobe. In her mind, this was all another trick. They wanted her to return to the Alphas, and Stales was helping them. But she was not stupid enough to fall for it.
"I am not scared of a test because I already know the result."
"Good," Stales replied quickly, clapping his hands once. "Then let us do the test." He turned and started walking toward the door.
"Where are you going?" Angela threw one of her clothes at him, but he caught it easily. She frowned deeply at him. "I am not preg..."
The words suddenly died in her throat.
Angela froze.
Her hand slowly moved to her lips as her eyes widened in fear. Her heartbeat became loud in her ears. Memories rushed through her mind so fast that she could barely breathe.
Her monthly flow.
It had not come.
The color slowly drained from her face as she stared at Stales without blinking.
"What happened now, Angel?" Stales asked, his voice softer this time.
"I missed my period," Angela finally whispered.
The moment the words left her mouth, her legs felt weak. She slowly sat on the bed and buried her face in her palms. Her heart would not stop pounding hard against her chest. So many thoughts ran through her mind at once that she could barely think straight.
Could she really be pregnant?
Or was she just scaring herself for no reason?
Either way, there was only one way to know the truth.
"I do not know much about pregnancy symptoms," Stales admitted softly. "Most of what I know came from biology class. But if you really want to be sure, then you need to take a test."
Angela slowly lifted her head. "How am I supposed to get a test strip?"
"That is actually a good question." Stales rubbed his palms together as he started thinking. Getting one inside an all boys academy was almost impossible. The only way was from outside the school. Suddenly, his eyes lit up. "Alex can help us. If we tell him, he can sneak out and buy it."
"No. Not Alex." Angela shook her head immediately. "I do not want him running to Kaito with my business."
"He would not do that unless he had no choice," Stales said as he moved closer to her. His expression softened when he saw how pale she looked. "Angela, I know you want this to be another joke from me, but it is not. I can feel it. You are pregnant."
Her breath caught instantly.
Cold shivers ran down her spine and goosebumps covered her skin. The fear inside her chest grew stronger, but she forced herself to stay calm.
No.
She was not going to believe anything until she saw the result herself.
"How are we even going to get the test strip?" Stales muttered as he started pacing around the room. He moved back and forth restlessly like the answer would suddenly appear in front of him.
Angela watched him quietly for a moment before letting out a tired sigh.
"Just let Alex get it," she said at last. "We do not have another choice."
"Really?" Stales stopped pacing and looked at her in surprise.
Angela folded her arms and rolled her eyes weakly. "Yes, Stales. Go and tell him to buy it. But nobody else must know about this, especially his Alpha."
"Fine."
That was the last thing he said before leaving the room to make the call.
The moment the door closed behind him, silence filled the room.
Angela stared at the half opened box on the bed. Her clothes were still scattered around it, but she no longer had the strength to continue arranging them.
Her mind was somewhere else completely.
Slowly, her hand moved to her stomach.
Fear gripped her heart tightly as one question echoed endlessly in her mind.
What if Stales was right?
Angela already felt tired after everything that had happened in the last few minutes.
Her body suddenly felt heavy and weak.
Right now, all she wanted was to lie down and pray that the result would calm her fears. She had no idea how she was supposed to hide a pregnancy in an all male academy if the test turned out positive.
The thought alone made her chest tighten.
The door opened again and Stales walked back into the room with his phone still in his hand.
"I spoke to him," he said. "He is bringing it. Just give him a few minutes."
"Okay," Angela replied quietly.
She curled herself up on the bed and pulled her knees closer to her chest. Her mind refused to rest. Every second felt longer than normal.
"I cannot believe this is happening to me."
"This is not a bad thing," Stales said as he walked to her box and started arranging her clothes into the wardrobe for her. Unlike her, he did not look worried at all. "I am actually happy for you."
Angela slowly turned her head to look at him.
"You do not seem upset."
"Why would I be upset?" Stales asked with a smile as he faced her. "This baby could belong to my pack. We might have another redhead running around the East Pack in a few months." He chuckled softly. "Actually, maybe less than nine months."
Before he could finish talking, Angela grabbed a pillow and threw it at him.
It hit him directly in the face.
"Shit," Stales groaned as he caught the pillow and pressed it against his face for a few seconds before looking back at her. "I did not say the baby is Renn’s. I am just saying I have a feeling it might be his."
Angela glared at him angrily.
Stales only continued talking.
"I wonder how the others are going to react if it turns out to be true. This will really test that brotherhood of theirs."
"Shut up, Stales," Angela snapped. "You are seriously annoying me right now."
She was sitting there praying for the result to be negative while he had already started deciding who the father was.
"We are not talking about any of this until I do the test."
"As you wish, Luna," Stales replied with a small nod.
He placed the pillow back on the bed and continued arranging the rest of her things quietly while Angela lay there with fear and worry slowly eating her alive.
