Chapter 697: Why Not Give It a Try?
Chapter 697: Why Not Give It a Try?
Jared Quinn said nothing, sitting on another sofa with a handsome yet weary face. He had changed into a white shirt and dress pants."I’ve heard about your situation. I plan to take Melody back to Crestfall for now until you can control yourself, then come for her."
"Dad," Melody Thorne interrupted, "I don’t want to go back to Crestfall."
Crestfall was too far away from here, requiring a private jet to come and go, but she wanted to see Jared Quinn.
"Jared, what do you think? Melody is pregnant now, can you really bear if anything happens to her?" Howard Seymour didn’t ask Melody, knowing it was pointless, so he shifted the conversation to Jared Quinn.
"Whatever he says is useless. If I say I’m not going back, then I’m not going back," Melody interrupted.
"Go back for now," Jared’s voice was hoarse. "I’ll come for you when I can control myself."
He didn’t want today’s incident to happen a second time.
"No," Melody insisted firmly.
Howard’s face darkened, but he couldn’t leave Melody alone here.
"How about this, I’ll stay here for a while. Melody, you can stay with me at the hotel temporarily for now."
"I..." disagreed.
"It’s decided," Jared said. "Let Melody stay with you at the hotel."
"But..."
"Melody, let’s just stay at the hotel with your dad," Silia persuaded, "You can’t do much if you stay here, nor can you be with him. If he hurts you when he’s not clear-headed, he’ll regret it immensely. This is better for both of you."
"Brother Jared," Harold Chapman entered the hall, smelling of blood. "Wendy Lynch didn’t confess anything."
"Did she say anything about what she did to Jared?" Leon Rivers asked.
"No!"
Leon Rivers: "..."
"Wake her up, I’ll go take a look," Melody Thorne walked outside.
"Melody..."
Silia looked at her somewhat helplessly.
In the secret room, Wendy Lynch’s hands and feet were chained to the wall, her face completely drained of color. Yet, such a woman couldn’t be made to talk.
A cold basin of water brought Wendy back to consciousness. She weakly lifted her head to stare at the woman in front of her. "Mel... Melody."
"It’s me," Melody tugged on the chains binding Wendy, a slight smile on her pink lips. "I didn’t expect you to be so resilient; even after being beaten up like this, you haven’t said a word."
Wendy bit her lip, ignoring Melody’s words, and pitiably pleaded to Jared, "Cousin, cousin, believe me, I didn’t do anything. I didn’t even know what was happening before they brought me here."
When Jared came into the secret room, his brows were furrowed deeply. He wrapped his arm around Melody, "The smell of blood is too strong here. Let’s go out, and I’ll leave the interrogation to Harold. Let her go when she finally tells the truth!"
"No... no, cousin. You have to believe me. I couldn’t do anything to you!"
"No, I want to interrogate her personally," Melody’s eyes seemed to be inlaid with a thin layer of ice. "I have a method of interrogation that I think is very effective on women, but I haven’t tried it yet. Since Miss Lynch is so tough, we might as well give it a try."
"Melody Thorne, what are you going to do? My mother is part of the Quinn Family. If you go after me, she won’t spare you," Wendy screamed, her eyes meeting Melody’s, filled with terror.
