Chapter 110: THUD
Chapter 110: THUD
Lilura looked at the dagger, deep in her chest.
Then at Mira.
Dark flames flared through her arm and a blade formed.
She sliced through toward Mira’s neck with a trail of darkness following.
A shadow dropped from above them.
Lilura felt the sudden change in her body.
She could not feel her arm.
Bryan dropped beside her, pulling his greatsword back.
Mira moved in tandem, withdrawing her dagger from Lilura’s heart.
"There’s no end to all of you," Lilura yelled, her arm regrowing.
"What are the others doing if I have handled so many high officials already?"
Her axe appeared in her palm again, dark flames pulsing along its frame.
She held it downward, then looked at both of them.
A heave.
She was gone, moving in a flicker of dark flames that appeared before the duo before they could blink.
Her axe tore downward toward Bryan’s shoulder.
Bryan caught the attack with his greatsword.
The clash sent a wave of force rolling outward in every direction, flattening the scorched earth around them.
Bryan’s knee buckled under the weight, his feet caving into the earth beneath.
Lilura flashed a cold grin as she retracted her axe, swinging in a wide horizontal arc toward Bryan’s torso simultaneously.
Bryan followed her in tandem, his greatsword slashing downward.
He caught the attack with his sword, sending ripples that shook the earth around them.
Lilura’s gaze flickered upward with slight amusement.
A sharp sound cut from behind.
Lilura drew her axe back, sidestepping to avoid Mira’s dagger.
Bryan followed Lilura’s step, his sword coming down over her shoulder.
Lilura stepped back, then drove the shaft of her axe into Bryan’s chest.
Bryan skidded a foot backward.
Mira covered for him, her dagger streaking through the air in a sharp whistle.
Lilura sidestepped, her leg driving into the back of Mira’s knee.
Mira buckled, dropping to her knee from the impact.
Before she could steady herself, Lilura’s leg lashed out, smashing into her head.
Mira’s body was hurled through the air like a discarded ragdoll, rolling and skidding across the scorched earth before coming to a halt.
Lilura did not look at Mira. She twisted to the side, performing a graceful backflip over Bryan’s sword.
Time seemed to slow to a snail’s pace as they locked eyes.
Lilura landed with a gentle thud.
She had not found her footing when a sound tore from behind.
Her head whipped to the side, her free hand catching the whip before it could pull back.
Using that as an anchor, she pulled, throwing the person over herself and slamming his back into the earth.
Instinctively, she turned back.
Lilura’s gaze shrank.
It was subtle, something no one saw.
People flooded the field like a tide.
Bryan smirked at this.
"Whatever," Lilura scoffed, waving her hand casually.
Dark flames converged over her head, creating a thick fog of darkness behind her.
The dark flames converged almost immediately, forming one massive spear that pulsed with enough power to make space rip and burn.
As the tide neared, the spear split.
Thousands of copies appeared in the sky, each one the same length and width.
There was only one change, the intensity of the heat.
It reduced with each copy.
Swoosh.
The spears tore downward, each one ripping through the air as they descended.
Everyone stopped in their tracks.
They looked at the spears coming down like the final judgement of a god.
They knew without doubt, this was their end.
Or so they thought.
Bryan’s body flickered from his position, appearing in front of the thousands of spears.
"Solar Corona."
He thrust his sword, planting it in the earth beneath and drawing it out in the same breath.
A ring of flames and light spread out with him at the centre.
The ring stopped, then pulled back, everything converging at the sword’s edge.
Bryan swung upward toward the spears.
A ring of flames and light shot out from the strike, expanding rapidly as it swallowed everything in its path.
The spears were incinerated by the extreme heat.
Lilura looked at Bryan.
A calm smile played on her lips.
"Let’s see how long you can hold up," she said.
"There’s no need to hold up for long," she heard the voice come from above.
Lilura’s body moved on instinct, stepping to the side.
A breath later, a massive hammer pummeled into the earth, creating a crater in the floor.
A spear thrust from behind her toward her shoulder.
Lilura ducked beneath it.
The air above her ripped from the attack.
A sword was already completing its arc toward her neck.
Lilura caught the attack with her axe from her position, then pushed back.
Another katana struck from behind toward her shoulder.
Lilura somersaulted, landing on her toes as she looked at the people who had attacked.
Bryan looked at them too.
A smile bloomed on his face.
"Seems like the guild masters are finally joining us," he said.
No one answered.
Except Lilura.
"They only came to get killed," she replied.
The axe in her hand disappeared in a flicker and she lunged, fists coated in a dense layer of dark flames.
The air detonated as she punched through a katana, sending shards of metal flying.
The guild master’s face shrank as he ducked beneath the punch.
Lilura’s fists were unrelenting, like a missile homing in on the guild master, switching trajectory mid air before connecting with his head.
The head was obliterated in a single attack, reduced to a mess of gore.
The air behind her screamed as a spear pierced through her head.
A smile remained on her face as she turned.
The sound of flesh tearing echoed through the air as the spear slid through her skull.
Lilura did not care.
Her hand lashed out, grabbing the attacker by the head.
Flames erupted from her palm, engulfing it in a mass of dark flames.
Bryan’s eyes widened as another person fell.
"Ray," he screamed, calling to the guild master with a hammer.
Before Ray could respond, Lilura was already in front of him, her fingers curling into a fist.
Ray looked on in surprise as Lilura punched a hole through his stomach.
Bryan lunged before she could go for the last person.
Lilura deflected his sword with two fingers.
Her eyes stared into Bryan’s, cold and emotionless.
"I have my use for all of you. There is no fun in killing you yet," she said, twisting her fingers casually.
Clang.
The sound of metal creaking spread through the air, lasting only a moment before it was replaced by the far more violent sound of metal exploding under force.
Her leg whipped forward, crashing into the back of Bryan’s head.
Bryan was brought forward, head first.
Before he could land fully, her palm smashed into the back of his neck.
Bryan fainted instantly.
He fell to the floor with a loud thud, raising dust into the air.
Mark was the last guild master remaining, and literally the only person who could hold this monster back.
Mark lunged, katana gleaming under the setting sun as his sword drew a silver arc through the air.
Lilura sidestepped, the sword cutting air in front of her.
Mark looked at her.
For a moment, he saw the monstrosity he was facing clearly.
The eyes devoid of emotion. The aura like an endless abyss.
Those were the last moments of Mark’s life.
The squishy sound of flesh parting filled the air.
Lilura’s palm exited through the back of his chest.
Mark’s heart sat in her palm before it exploded under the crushing weight of her grip.
Lilura pulled her palm out, the blood dissolving as dark flames enveloped her arm.
"Now, let’s clean up," she said, looking at the endless people frozen from fear.
Then the world turned upside down.
Lilura’s head was sent flying.
It burned down, another one appearing on her neck almost instantly.
She smiled lightly as she gripped the attacker by the neck.
"If it isn’t the lover girl," she said, licking her lips.
Amelia held Lilura’s arm, applying force to free herself.
Lilura did not budge.
A sound tore from the side.
Mira’s dagger dug deep into Lilura’s shoulder.
Lilura looked at Mira.
"You are still conscious?" She asked, almost jokingly.
Mira did not reply. She pulled her dagger out and pierced it into Lilura’s eye.
There was silence before Lilura’s hand lashed out again.
She caught Mira by the head, then twisted lightly.
Mira fell to the ground, her eyes flickering shut as she lost consciousness.
Lilura did not spare her a second glance.
She looked at Amelia, still in her grip.
"You are the only one I want to kill among all of them," Lilura said, her axe appearing in her free hand.
Amelia gripped her katana tighter, slashing at Lilura’s neck.
The head fell but another replaced it almost immediately.
Lilura swung, her axe a glint of black as it trailed through the air.
No impact.
Then a sharp gale.
Then nothing again.
Then a soft thud.
