Chapter 2 Reckless and Unaware of Death
Chapter 2 Reckless and Unaware of Death
The crimson-clad figure, now in its true form, stood quietly in the center of the room.
Her hair had turned a deep, rich black at some point, with waist-length black hair flowing behind her, its color so intense it seemed to absorb all the surrounding light.
This created a stark and unsettling contrast with her intensely red wedding dress.
The short space pirate who witnessed this scene was completely terrified; everything that had happened since he opened the door was beyond his comprehension. Especially after he successfully pierced the crimson-clad man's chest but nothing happened, his sanity completely collapsed.
At that moment, the woman in crimson moved—
She slowly raised her hand towards the short man.
The scarlet wedding dress was like a living tide of blood surging forth. Although there was no wind in the room, the wide sleeves and the hem embroidered with gold thread moved without wind, as if they had a life of their own, stretching and spreading, and then flowing towards the direction where the short man was standing.
The air seemed to be soaked in this red hue, becoming thick and suffocating. The temperature in the room began to drop, the overhead light gradually became unstable, and amidst the flickering, pale light, the scarlet fabric spread like water to the short man's feet.
The short man stood frozen in place, so terrified by what he saw that he completely forgot to run away, letting the living red thing slowly climb up his ankle.
At first, he didn't feel anything because the fabric was very soft and the slippery touch felt like some kind of slimy, strip-shaped animal was wrapping around his ankle and moving upwards. He didn't even feel any force.
But he soon realized he was wrong.
An indescribable chill began to seep into his skin. The chill penetrated his clothes, entered his bloodstream through his pores, and almost froze his blood.
The cold began to spread through his body, and his heartbeat slowed and weakened in this environment. The low temperature made the short man drowsy, and his memory began to blur.
So when the red fabric began to wrap around his thighs, waist, chest, arms, and finally even his neck, he did not have the slightest thought of struggling.
After the person was wrapped into a twisted, standing cocoon, thin red threads suddenly emerged from under the red cloth, like countless tiny worms, and began to burrow into the short man's pores, sucking his blood and absorbing the little strength he had left.
The short man felt like a piece of butter being thrown into a hot pan. His skin, muscles, and bones were all rapidly softened, broken down, and finally absorbed under that crimson coating.
Under such excruciating pain, he should have struggled, but some emotions that did not belong to him—endless resentment, piercing loneliness, and even a desire for flesh and blood—began to grow in his mind.
His eyes began to vacant, his pupils began to dilate, but the corners of his mouth slowly curled up.
Finally, all he remembered was smelling the strong, pungent scent of aged cosmetics, and beneath that strong, sweet aroma, the damp, earthy smell of rotting leaves or decaying wood, and a fishy, musty odor.
And then, his vision was completely covered by a crimson red.
The sound had completely disappeared from the space at some point, and in the utter silence, only the gurgling sound of liquid flowing and swallowing echoed in the room.
After the sound completely disappeared, the scarlet cloth, which had been writhing like a living thing, regained its original softness and began to recede slowly like the tide, returning to the crimson-clad figure.
In front of her, where the short man had stood, was now completely empty.
There was no blood, no remains, not even a single hair.
Jiang Yi slowly lowered her hand, glanced at her wedding dress which had become exceptionally vibrant in color, and slowly uttered two words:
"It tastes...awful..."
……
"Boss, that guy Lao Liu, he just went to drag a corpse, why has he taken so long?"
"What else can we do? That brat's off slacking off somewhere again! Hurry up and find him!"
"Yes, boss, I'll make a call to him right away."
"Strange... That kid isn't answering his phone, he's probably asleep somewhere. I'll go over there myself..."
The muscular man stood up from his chair and walked towards the door.
Before he could even make a move, the hatch opened from the outside.
"You bastard, Lao Liu!"
The burly man instinctively assumed the short man had finally returned, and swore under his breath, "Where were you just now—"
The cursing and swearing sounded as if it had been muted.
There was no short, green-haired man outside the door, only a scarlet, graceful figure standing quietly at the entrance.
The figure was wearing a scarlet gown that he had never seen before, which looked extremely elaborate and gorgeous, and her pale, bloodless hands were quietly folded in front of her.
She was simply standing there motionless, her slender figure seemingly posing no threat whatsoever, her posture… even appearing quite polite, yet the burly man instantly felt his hair stand on end, and alarm bells went off in his head—
Behind her, the ground, walls, and even the ceiling were splattered with horrifying blood; lifeless corpses lay sprawled on the ground.
"Who are you?!"
He shouted loudly while quickly reaching for the gun tucked into his waistband.
The commotion at the door attracted the attention of the others in the control room.
"!!!"
"Where did this woman come from?! Who brought her up?"
"Get your head clean. Have you ever seen a woman brought aboard move freely on our ship?"
"Hmm...wait, this face...it looks kind of familiar?"
"Ah! I remember now—"
"Boss, isn't this the target of the job we're currently working on?! Wasn't she already killed by you, boss?!"
Upon hearing the words "boss," Jiang Yi slowly looked in the direction from which the voice came.
Sure enough, she spotted a completely bald man in the crowd. He was exceptionally tall and muscular, and his bald head gleamed under the lights, instantly drawing all of Jiang Yi's attention.
"what……"
The woman in crimson robes spoke softly, "I've found you..."
After "eating" the short space pirate, Jiangyi learned from the short man's memories that the bald man she was looking for was the leader of this group of space pirates.
The short space pirate's memories were so jumbled and chaotic that Jiang Yi couldn't find out where the bald man went after boarding the spaceship. She had no choice but to leave the room and ask someone.
Along the way, she encountered quite a few space pirates. But each time, before she could even ask where the bald man was, everyone who saw her would inexplicably start attacking her.
If attacked, you can retaliate.
This was something that a player she knew had once taught her.
So by the time she found the control room, it had become the last place on the spaceship where there were still living people.
"It's you!"
The bald man clearly recognized the man in crimson robes; his pupils constricted sharply.
After all, he personally negotiated this deal, and he personally shot and killed the target.
Could it be... that he missed back then?!
That's true. This woman was originally the heir of the Jiang family; if nothing unexpected happens, she can directly inherit the Jiang family after returning. So it's perfectly normal for her to carry some life-saving items that few people know about...
Greed immediately flashed in the bald space pirate's eyes.
"What's with all the nonsense?!" He slapped his subordinate, who was still babbling on and not understanding the point, and yelled, "Who cares how she lived? Just kill her!"
"Yes, yes, the boss is right!"
As soon as the bald space pirate finished speaking, several blinding beams of light shot precisely at the quiet red figure at the door.
However... the energy beam that was originally enough to melt through steel plates was like a stone thrown into a deep pool, leaving only strange ripples on the red clothes, and causing the slender figure to sway slightly.
When the ripples subsided, not even a single scorch mark remained on the red fabric.
"Damn it, what's wrong with this woman?!"
"Fire! Keep firing!"
Because the attack was ineffective, the pirates under his command cursed loudly, but the bald man's eyes grew brighter and brighter.
really!
He was right!
This woman has something special about her!
If nothing unexpected happens, what's protecting this woman should be this strange-looking outfit that appeared out of nowhere on her.
"Take her clothes off!" the bald space pirate shouted excitedly.
Ok?
Jiang Yi raised her eyebrows slightly.
She really hadn't seen someone so reckless in a very, very long time.
