Chapter 32 Full Launch
Chapter 32 Full Launch
"Don't tell me this is a coincidence, Qin." Mick stared at Qin Han, somewhat relentlessly.
The surrounding staff also pricked up their ears and held their breath, waiting for the answer.
Qin Han put down his teacup, his expression calm and composed.
"Mick, although I'd love to admit I'm a wizard, unfortunately, it's really just a guess based on logic."
"Nixon was badly hurt by Watergate and needed to save face elsewhere; Kissinger needed the Nobel Peace Prize; and those soldiers who fought against talking bushes needed to go home."
He clasped his hands together, interlacing his fingers: "When all interests converge on the same goal, even the fiercest war will cease."
Mick stared at his face for a good ten seconds before finally collapsing backward in despair.
"Okay, this is so boring." He scratched his messy long hair. "But you did give me some ideas."
The Rolling Stones' key figure began planning for the future:
"Now that the war is coming to an end, it means that anger will no longer be the only fashionable color."
"The kids who protested with signs are going home. They need new outlets, like purer joy, or... more extreme decadence."
No wonder he's a top superstar who's been popular for half a century; his keen sense of the times is no less than mine, even with my extraordinary talent.
Indeed, after the Vietnam War, rock music quickly shifted from political resistance to glam rock and disco hedonism.
"Qin, I have to go." Mick stood up abruptly: "The rest of the band is waiting for me. We need to have a good talk. We need to try something different for the next album."
He walked up to Qin Han and extended his fist. Qin Han smiled, stood up, and bumped fists with him.
"Let's take a picture together to commemorate this historic moment!" He put his arm around Mill's shoulder and then pulled Renee and Lorna along.
An employee raised his camera and snapped a photo of the four of them.
Afterwards, the rock star bid farewell to everyone and left the radio studio.
"Ring ring ring—" Just then, the dedicated phone on the desk rang.
Luo Na stepped forward, picked up the microphone, listened for a few minutes, and a surprised smile appeared on her face.
"Okay, Peter. I'll pass it on to him."
After hanging up the phone, she plopped down next to Qin Han: "Your great white shark has taken the bait."
"Peter Benchley asked me to tell you that he will mail you the complete outline of the novel."
"As for the specific cooperation plan, he hopes to find an opportunity to meet and discuss it in detail."
Qin Han nodded, a weight lifted from his heart.
After all, it was just a verbal gentleman's agreement at the time, and now it seems that these liberal writers still value their reputation.
"Alright, ladies and gentlemen," Lorna clapped her hands, "the revelry tonight is now over."
"Tomorrow—no, today—we'll all be incredibly busy."
"The column needs to be published, and we also have to deal with those crazy Google merchants; and you..." She smiled at Qin Han, "and you also have a movie to prepare."
Amidst the thin morning mist, Rona's van took Qin Han and Renee back to Seventh Street.
The young woman looked out the window at the dilapidated buildings, a stark contrast to the glamorous world she had just experienced—it was like heaven versus hell.
Now, the gates of heaven are open to him.
"Mr. Qin."
"Hmm?" Qin Han was resting with his eyes closed and did not open them.
"I'd like to accept your invitation to make a movie."
This man had spent a whole night convincing himself that he truly possessed the power to change the fate of the brother and sister.
Qin Han opened his eyes, looked at this future Hollywood action goddess, and a slight smile appeared on his lips:
"A wise decision, Renee. Trust me, this will be the best choice you've ever made."
As the car rounded a street corner, several wandering shadowy figures appeared and disappeared at the alley entrance.
Qin Han frowned: "However, you and George need to do something first."
"What?"
"Move." He pointed to the malicious gazes outside the window: "Once you're on set, the security situation here will be a disaster."
"But..." Renee said, somewhat embarrassed, "We have no savings. My salary is only enough to cover rent and George's tuition, and we need a large deposit to move..."
Qin Han interrupted her: "The casting details will be officially finalized today. Once it's light, you should all be ready."
"So fast?" Renee exclaimed in surprise.
"Of course, after all, I've won quite a few bets. Future superstar, your life is about to change."
After watching Renee go upstairs, Qin Han had the driver take him back to his equally dilapidated residence.
Pushing open the door, Andrew was curled up on the sofa, snoring softly.
"Get up and get to work." Qin Han yanked the blanket off him. "If we stay any later, people in Hong Kong will be going to sleep."
Andrew groggily opened his eyes and, seeing Qin Han return, muttered, "Where have you been all day?"
"Going to witness history." Qin Han walked to the telephone and dialed an overseas long-distance call: "Quickly, report to Boss Zou about the work."
As soon as serious matters were mentioned, Andrew immediately got to work.
After a short wait, Raymond Chow's voice came through the microphone.
"Ah Han!" The moment the call connected, the Jiahe boss's voice was filled with undisguised joy: "You guys have really made a big commotion over there!"
"Thanks to our efforts and Lorna's report, public opinion in Hong Kong has completely changed!"
"Everyone is praising Golden Harvest for its international vision; the rumors spread by Shaw Brothers are completely debunked!"
Bruce Lee's hearty laughter rang out from the side: "Han! The box office results for 'Enter the Dragon' came out yesterday, and it's already surpassed 500 million Hong Kong dollars! That 40 US dollars is yours!"
It was even faster than I expected?
The box office performance has increased even more dramatically than before, which is clearly a counter-attack in this media battle.
"Mr. Zou, Master, we also have something to report. The contract for the co-production with Warner Bros. has been finalized."
He handed the microphone to Andrew and repeated the terms of "50/50 revenue sharing," "copyright swap," and "filming in Hong Kong."
Raymond Chow exclaimed, "The younger generation is truly formidable... You were able to negotiate such demanding conditions, and Ah Long's trust in you is certainly not without reason."
"Looks like I need to finish writing your offer letter quickly, otherwise someone else will snatch it away and I'll be at a huge loss!"
Qin Han smiled and didn't dwell on the topic.
"Mr. Zou, since you want to hire me, let me make a suggestion first."
"In addition to 'The Big Boss,' preparations for the North American release of 'Fist of Fury' and 'Way of the Dragon' can now begin."
"What?" This time it was Bruce Lee who spoke: "Han, don't bite off more than you can chew."
"With 'The Big Boss' not even released yet, will diverting our energy to two other films cause us to miss out on the first wave of releases?"
Qin Han did not directly refute his master, but instead analyzed:
"Warner's production line is world-class. The Shaw Brothers copy has already been sent, and the translation and transcription speed will only be faster than in Hong Kong."
"And Lorna's interview has already proven the master's popularity in the United States. Since that's the case, we don't need to fight for this empty title of 'number one'."
"Even if it's released a week or even half a month later than Shaw Brothers, as long as the 'Bruce Lee' brand is there, audiences will still buy tickets."
