Chapter 162 Framing
Chapter 162 Framing
Chapter 162 Framing
Not long after Evan left the villa, he passed by only a few villas before arriving at the location where Mr. A was holding a party.
Mr. A's villa is at 16 Edward Street in the West End, while Evan's current villa is at 12 Edward Street, which is quite close.
Add to that Jason Belial, who lives at 6 Edward Street, the Apostle of Desire who has a prominent role in the second volume of Lord of Mysteries, and the demonic dog that caused widespread panic among the lower classes of Backlund, and the Edward Street neighborhood is truly teeming with talent!
He knocked on the villa door, and the person who opened it, upon seeing Evan, stepped aside without a word to let him in, while cautiously surveying the surroundings before closing the villa door.
Evan easily made his way to the prayer hall at the bottom of the villa, where he saw many believers of the true Creator performing their daily prayers under Mr. A's guidance.
To fit in, Evan found a corner, drew an inverted cross on his chest, and began to pretend to pray.
After a long while, the prayer ceremony ended, and the believers who participated in the ceremony left one after another to continue to their posts and contribute to the spread of the true Creator faith. Only Mr. A and Evan remained in the entire hall.
Evan stepped forward, first praising the true creator, then reporting that he had been promoted to colonel, and thanking Mr. A again for his help.
"Don't thank me, it's all a gift from the Lord!"
Mr. A once again made the sign of the inverted cross on his chest, then faced the inverted giant cross and piously corrected Evan, "I misspoke! I repent!"
Evan quickly made a gesture of repentance, saying that he had just misspoke and that he did not lack faith in the Lord.
Fortunately, Mr. A didn't delve into the matter further and instead began asking about the task he had been assigned last time:
"The Lord won't hold this against you. How's the investigation I asked you to do last time?"
"The investigation is basically complete. Since I made a great contribution and my status was greatly promoted, many of the secrets of MI9 are no longer secrets to me."
Evan subtly complimented Mr. A again on the wisdom of his investment, and then continued:
"It wasn't MI9 that sent people to Tingen, but the Royal Guard. Through my indirect inquiries over this period, I've basically pieced together the whole story."
Evan then noticed that the Rune military had their eyes on the Lannus scam, seeing it as an opportunity to eliminate bad debts, and eventually intervened to escalate it.
He recounted how King George III was secretly plotting to control Lannüs, and how Mr. Z's intrusion disrupted everyone's plans.
Finally, Evan also appropriately expressed his doubts about Mr. Z's appearance in this matter.
Mr. A had already figured out most of these things by asking Lanius. Even things he didn't know, such as the military's accounting and George III's ulterior motives, he didn't care about.
He only cared about one thing right now, but Evan hadn't mentioned it, so he had to take the initiative and ask:
"Did any of the royal guards who intercepted Lanius return to Backlund alive?"
Evan couldn't appear to know everything, so he deliberately omitted this point earlier, only answering when Mr. A asked the question himself:
"It is said that three people were sent by the royal guards, but only one returned. He was then dismissed and his whereabouts are now unknown."
Mr. A, is there something important going on here? Otherwise, why would Mr. Z get involved?
Mr. A remained silent and did not answer Evan's question.
The situation is now clear: George III knows that the Lord has planted divinity in Lannus and will descend into the world through Lannus's body.
Logically speaking, the arrival of the true creator should have seriously agitated the nerves of the Storm Church and the royal family. After all, the former is a mortal enemy and the latter is a believer of Storm. There shouldn't have been any movement until now.
With no movement from his opponent, Mr. A, who had been actively preparing and on high alert, seemed to be fighting in the air, like a complete idiot.
Being a fool is fine, but if you fail to see through the enemy's intentions and cause the "Lord" to descend into the world and save humanity to go awry, then you will truly be unforgivable, and Mr. A himself will never forgive himself.
Seeing that Mr. A remained silent, and unable to delve deeper, Evan turned to report on another matter.
"A medal-awarding ceremony has just been held within MI9, and the person who represented King George III was none other than the third prince, Edsack Augustus."
Because of the Witch Cult's mission during this period, I had a lot of contact with this third prince, and we got along quite well. He revealed to me that he suspected Triss was a "witch" and asked me to secretly investigate the organization behind Triss.
And something else happened at the ball just now.
During a break between the ceremony and the ball, someone slipped a letter of denunciation into Edsac Augustus's carriage.
"Is it true, Mr. A, that Lanius is in the hands of our Aurora Society?"
Upon hearing this news, Mr. A, who was facing the statue of the true creator, changed his expression drastically, turned sharply to look at Evan, and said in a voice that sounded calm but whose anger was palpable:
"What did you say? Someone reported that Laneus is in our hands?"
Evan looked surprised and said cautiously:
"That's right, Edsack Augustus is very calm, he just asked me to investigate this matter secretly."
Mr. A, is that Lanius important? Should I cover it up a bit?
Mr. A felt he had no choice but to tell Evan the truth. If Evan didn't know the seriousness of the matter, he wouldn't be able to maintain his sensitivity to information. Just now, he didn't know what the real information he wanted was, so he didn't say anything and had to ask Evan himself.
After listening to Mr. A's account, Evan looked astonished and stammered, as if he had won the lottery, and asked in a low voice, "So, the commander is very likely to descend to earth through Lanruis's body to bestow blessings upon all living beings?"
Mr. A nodded, and Evan was overjoyed to receive Mr. A's affirmative answer.
"This is wonderful! The Lord will surely reclaim the authority of all false gods and save the suffering lambs!"
Mr. A looked at the flustered and unusually excited Evan with satisfaction, and was also very understanding of his behavior at this moment, because he had been the same when he learned of Lanluus's existence. This was the behavior of a qualified believer.
Evan quickly snapped out of his euphoria and calmly analyzed the current situation.
"King George III did not reveal the divine nature of Lannault, which must have been for his own purposes. From what I have learned about George III during this period, he has never been a peaceful person."
This can be seen from the fact that he sent people to intercept Lanluus, wanting to take control of Lanluus.
From this perspective, the reason he didn't expose the matter of Lanius was probably because the Lord's arrival was beneficial to him, such as helping him attract other people's attention.
So as long as George III hasn't finished his little scheme, we don't really need to consider him. He might even become our ally and help us cover up related information.
So who could have sent the whistleblower letter to the carriage of the third prince, Edsak Augustus?
The only people who should know about this are the royal guard member who wasn't dragged down with Mr. Z and King George III. Logically, there shouldn't have been a leak.
But now that the information has been leaked, I feel that a third party who has been closely monitoring the royal family must have learned of it and leaked it to try and create chaos between us and the royal family, thereby profiting from the chaos.
At this point in the analysis, Evan's meaning is quite clear: the witch cult, which is actively infiltrating the royal family, must have discovered the unusual activity of the palace guards and, consequently, the existence of Laneus.
After discovering that George III had not made any move, they decided to bring the matter to the forefront, hoping to provoke a battle between the two sides.
Although the Witch Cult recently made contact with the Aurora Society through Triss, and both sides are willing to strengthen communication and cooperation, Mr. A does not really believe that the two sides are allies and will not stab each other in the back.
Often, the stabbings between clandestine organizations are the most vicious. At least 80% of the evil god organization strongholds uncovered by the Church of the Righteous God came from reports by "enthusiastic citizens".
So when Evan, through his analysis of the scope of the intelligence leak, concluded that it was impossible for King George III and the members of the royal guard who hadn't been killed by Mr. Z to have leaked the information, Mr. A immediately thought of the Witch Cult, and his eyes began to turn unusually cold.
Mr. A now suspects that Triss may have been exposed; otherwise, why would the Witch Cult write a report to Edsac Augustus instead of to anyone else?
What's even more coincidental is that Edsac Augustus didn't suspect Triss before, but now he suddenly starts to suspect her identity?
Seeing Mr. A's expression, Evan guessed what he was thinking and decided to add fuel to the fire, saying:
"Because I've been in a lot of contact with Edsac Augustus lately, and I've also met Triss, I don't know why..."
I have a feeling that Triss is acting strangely.
I'm not saying this to doubt Triss's loyalty to the Lord, but rather because I feel she's becoming increasingly unfamiliar, no longer like him, and it's a strange feeling.
Furthermore, I learned from within the Witch Cult that Triss's superior was no longer the previous Witch of Pleasure, but had been directly taken over by a high-ranking powerhouse within the Witch Cult.
Do you think it's possible that Triss was exposed, and the Witch Cult is trying to use her to sabotage the Aurora Society and our Lord?
"Hmph! Trying to ambush us? Impossible! The Primordial Witch has been severely injured since the 'Pale Calamity,' who gave them the courage to plot against our lord?"
