Chapter 13 Returning Home in Glory
Chapter 13 Returning Home in Glory
After riding in the giant eagle's arms for a while, Geb returned to the secret base.
almost.
The little goblin quickly packed his things; in truth, upon reflection, there wasn't much worth taking back.
Giant eagle feathers—a gift for Boss Bear.
A bag of herbs—to give to the old shaman…it has to be done skillfully and with finesse.
The goal is to deliver the gifts so that the old shaman is happy and doesn't see himself as a threat.
Gebu mentally assessed the degree of his feigned weakness, and thought, "Hmm... I need to polish this a bit more."
Then, the Book of Sand is the most important; it can't be left in the camp, but it's not good to leave it here either.
Gebu knew of a cave in the rock wall, a half-day climb away. The cave wasn't suitable for hiding large items, but it was perfect for a book. By blocking the opening with stones and moss, even wild animals couldn't get in.
A new secret base.
I can go there to cultivate in the future. I don't need such a big cave. A place to hide is enough.
This place is a mess, with people killing people and bears, Barbie Q, and practicing fire arrows. It's no longer suitable as a long-term base.
The goblin took a moment to cover up the traces, burning or burying his belongings. There was little he could do with the bear and half-elf corpses; they were simply left in the cave.
After I leave, it won't be long before wild animals come and devour them all. I don't need to worry about it.
After packing up all his belongings, Gebu, carrying his bundle, turned back for one last look at the cave that had been his companion for so long.
Goodbye, secret base.
The goblin saluted, felt a surge of self-satisfaction, and then walked towards the camp without looking back.

"Boss Bear! Gebu's in such a terrible state! Gebu almost died!"
Gebu cried out to the goblin and the old shaman, tears streaming down his face.
"You little rascal, you've been gone for almost a week! Where have you been?!"
"The mother bear goblin roared. She was muscular, upright, and her fur was glossy and smooth, a stark contrast to the group of grimy goblins."
"Let's not talk about that now. What about the seven guys who went out with you? We haven't seen them come back either."
The old shaman chimed in from the side, "This old fellow speaks slowly and deliberately, his eyes darting around as if he's always trying to figure something out."
"Reporting to Boss Bear, reporting to Shaman, Gebu's squad has been attacked by humans... They're all dead, only Gebu managed to escape fast enough... Humans are terrifying."
"What about their equipment?" the old shaman asked.
"I don't know, I didn't dare go back."
"Useless." The old shaman snorted, as if he was heartbroken over the equipment—which was really just some simple spears, broken shields, and short swords.
What a stingy fellow, Geb thought.
"Gebu dares not return, fearing that the humans will follow him to the camp..."
"Are you afraid of coming back and being fed to the hyenas by Boss Bear?" the old shaman interrupted Gebu. "You useless thing."
"Gebu is useless, Gebu is useless. Gebu knows he made a mistake. Gebu has been thinking of picking up something to make amends these past few days."
Gebu frantically pulled out the herbs he had gathered. Starflower, golden daisy... these were all common herbs, but Gebu had chosen only the highest quality specimens, a world apart from the random picking of other goblins.
Gebu deliberately mixed some higher-grade herbs into this package of ordinary herbs. He mixed them all together intentionally, making it seem as if he couldn't distinguish between good and bad.
When it comes to acting, it's all about the details.
"What did you find? Let me see." The old shaman's eyes lit up for a moment, then he hid his joy.
There's hope. Gebu was secretly delighted. This old fellow is greedy; it seems he's probably passed this test.
The old shaman had no reason to target him; he was just a lowly goblin scout. If he could prove his worth, the shaman would keep him around. This round was in the bag.
The order in which you give the items is also important. Give them to the old shaman first, then give them to Boss Bear.
Although Xiong Laoda is nominally more powerful than the old shaman, he is more honest and doesn't hold grudges.
The old shaman was different; this old Deng was vengeful and held a grudge.
Gebu hurriedly handed the medicine bag to the old shaman.
"Hmph, a bunch of worthless stuff. But at least you're trying to make amends. Magnubie was merciful today… but you only remembered to bring me things, where's Boss Bear?"
"Yeah, where are my things? I only picked a bunch of grass, can I even eat it?" Boss Xiong didn't understand what the pile of herbs was, but he was jealous that he had nothing to take, so he was a little annoyed and said to Gebu rudely.
"Of course, of course." Gebu pulled a giant eagle feather from his waist. The feather had been carefully groomed, with all the stray feathers removed. It was smooth and neat in the sunlight, and very beautiful.
Geb presented it with both hands.
"This is... a giant eagle's feather?!" Boss Xiong suddenly stood up.
Seeing the bear leader's reaction, the other goblins began to whisper among themselves.
"A very large bird flew by, and Gebu chased and chased until he finally picked up what it dropped. When Gebu saw this, he thought of offering it to you. Only a great bear goblin like you deserves such a beautiful trophy."
Overjoyed, Xiong Laoda took two steps forward, snatched the feather from Gebu's hand, and was about to put it on his head when he noticed that the goblins around him were watching him. He coughed awkwardly and put the feather away.
"You're in pretty good luck, Gebu. You managed to find some good stuff."
"Boss Bear, it looks better with both sides on," Gebu whispered, secretly passing another feather from under his body to the female bear goblin.
Overjoyed, Xiong Laoda blinked, his long, wire-like eyelashes fluttering.
"Will you be able to find anything good again in the future?"
"Old Bear asked in a low voice, a slight blush appearing on his furry face."
A shy goblin is more terrifying than an angry one...
"Gebu can also get bear teeth, wolf whiskers... Gebu is good at picking things up," Gebu said, suppressing his nausea.
"Then you shouldn't go hunting with me anymore. Your little body isn't very useful. I think you should just stay here and pick up the scraps."
"Hey, that's great. Now we can go out and practice our skills openly." Gebu quickly thanked him.
The surrounding audience waited to see the show, but after a long time no one was fed to the hyenas, they slowly dispersed.
"Hey, Gebu." The old shaman beckoned Gebu over.
"Oh, Shaman."
"When you go out to scavenge for bargains, gather plenty of these herbs for me, and I need them of this quality..."
Gebu pretended to listen to the old shaman's teachings, but he knew very well what the shaman wanted. This treacherous fellow, apart from the most basic herbs, wanted him to collect dangerous herbs that grew on cliffs, near water sources where wild animals roamed, and inside snake dens.
Fortunately, I have the Wizard's Hand, so this obstacle is no match for me.
Gebu readily agreed.
After explaining for a while, the old shaman asked, "Did you understand?"
"I...I understand."
"Repeat it."
"Uh..." Gebu thought for a moment, not wanting to reveal his expertise, so he deliberately stammered, "Starlight Grass, I want the half-open... golden chrysanthemum..."
"It should be golden daisies, half-open, and starflowers with soft downy hairs."
"Yes...yes..."
"Don't bother writing it down, just collect it according to today's quality standards, understand?"
"Okay."
"If you do well, you'll be in charge of gathering herbs from now on. You'll benefit from it, understand?"
"good!"
Gebu raised his head and gave the old shaman a kind smile.
"Unhappy," a strong, yellow-skinned goblin beside the old shaman, frowned as he watched Gebu being pampered.
