Chapter 329: Should have killed him
Chapter 329: Should have killed him
Yuel knew that no matter which one of them had been lying there today, Rory would have chosen to save them.
He could not persuade her, nor did he have the right to. All he could do was contact his subordinates and order them to transport a medical pod to the estate immediately.
By the time they returned to the estate, the pod had already been fully installed.
"What do we need a medical pod for?" Xarion asked, confusion written all over his face.
"Don’t tell me Female Master plans to capture that Bree woman and force her to give Vincent a blood transfusion?"
Vincent would never agree to that. And deep down, Xarion felt things were not nearly that simple.
Yuel had no energy left to explain anything to him. Even if he said nothing, Xarion would understand soon enough. He carefully placed Vincent inside the medical pod, then instructed Xarion and Jasper to guard the room outside.
Paros and Wen remained stationed outside the villa.
Xarion stared after Yuel, his brows drawn together so tightly they formed a deep crease. He wanted to follow him inside, but Jasper stopped him.
"If you have questions, ask me." Jasper leaned against the pod door, his expression unusually calm.
Xarion halted and turned toward him. "Fine. Since you’re offering answers, then tell me this... What exactly is wrong with Vincent? And why did Female Master have Yuel bring in a medical pod? How is she planning to save him?"
Back at the Firebird Clan palace, he had clearly heard the physicians say Vincent’s condition was beyond saving.
The only possibilities were for Vincent to endure it himself, travel to Divine Beast Mountain to seek the Beast God, or receive human blood.
Going to Divine Beast Mountain was impossible, Vincent would never survive the journey. And the Beast God would never leave the mountain.
As for enduring it on his own? That was even less likely.
If Rory truly intended to leave Vincent to fight through it alone, she never would have ordered Yuel to prepare the medical pod.
Which meant...
Xarion’s sharp gaze locked onto Jasper.
Jasper ignored the intensity in his eyes and remained leaning quietly against the pod door. When he spoke again, his voice was cool and steady.
"I’ll answer your questions one at a time. As for Vincent’s illness... On the way back, I spoke with the Firebird Clan physicians. They said the root of his condition lies within his genes."
At the thought of what Rory was likely about to do, Jasper unconsciously clenched his fists.
After a brief pause, he continued. "When Vincent was young, he was abducted by the insectoids. They wanted to steal the secret behind the Firebird Clan’s Nirvana immortality. So they performed countless experiments on him. They even forcibly implanted contaminated insectoid genetic fragments into his bloodline."
A sharp chill crept into Jasper’s voice.
"After he was rescued, Vincent managed to suppress the mutations through the overwhelming strength of his Firebird bloodline. But the corrupted gene sequences remained buried inside him like a ticking time bomb. They could erupt at any moment."
Xarion narrowed his eyes. He had never imagined Vincent carried such a past.
Jasper looked at him again. "Now for your second question... The only way Vincent can truly recover now... is to undergo a genuine Nirvana. Not a simple rebirth through flames. But a complete reconstruction of his bloodline and genetic code."
Their genes all carried severe flaws. That was why beastmen suffered mental instability and berserk transformations.
"Only the perfect genes and blood of a human can help Vincent complete that rebirth."
After saying that, Jasper glanced toward the medical pod.
"I’ve already explained this much. I’m sure you’ve figured it out by now. Rory... is the human female."
So it really was true... Even though he had already suspected it earlier, hearing Jasper confirm it aloud still left Xarion deeply shaken.
He stared toward the medical pod, panic rising in his chest.
"So Female Master intends to use her own blood... to perform the transfusion for Vincent?"
Jasper nodded. "Yes."
The moment Xarion heard the Firebird Clan physician say that Vincent needed human blood to complete Nirvana, he had already known what Rory would choose.
He hadn’t even needed to think about it.
Xarion slumped heavily onto the floor, looking utterly defeated. He did not question Jasper about why no one had stopped Rory because he knew the truth.
None of them could stop their female master.
Staring blankly at the massive tree outside, Xarion spoke in a dark, bitter tone.
"If I’d known things would turn out like this... I should’ve killed Vincent back at the Divine Fallen Battlefield. If he were dead, Female Master wouldn’t have to give him her blood."
Even if she became furious and severed his beast mark afterward, he would have accepted it.
As long as she remained safe.
But now...

Inside the medical pod, Rory sat quietly in a chair, one slender arm extended outward.
A thin medical tube had been expertly inserted into the pale skin of her vein.
Crimson blood flowed steadily through the transparent tubing, rich and vivid, carrying a vitality so pure it seemed to contain the very essence of life itself.
Beside her, medical instruments continuously monitored her condition.
For now, every reading remained perfectly stable.
On the opposite side of the pod, Vincent lay motionless on the treatment bed, far more tubes connected to his body.
One by one, the lines drew contaminated blood from his arteries—the blood polluted by insectoid genes.
Yuel operated the instruments silently, his eyes filled with heartache as they settled on Rory.
"Rory... does it hurt?"
Rory shook her head while casually biting into a Beast God Fruit.
"Not at all. I don’t feel uncomfortable in the slightest. Just keep going."
The Beast God Fruit might have been useless for Vincent, but for her, it worked perfectly.
Every bite sent an overwhelming surge of energy rushing through her body.
Rory could practically feel the blood that had just been extracted replenishing itself instantly.
The more blood they drew from her... The more her body seemed to produce.
Not only did her complexion remain rosy and healthy, she looked increasingly energized.
"Yuel, this Beast God Fruit really works. I’ve already lost so much blood, but I don’t feel dizzy at all. If anything, I feel more awake than ever."
Right now, Rory felt like she had endless strength coursing through her veins.
Yuel stepped over to adjust the monitor beside her before gently smoothing a hand over her hair.
"My Rory really is clever. To think you came up with a method like this."
The Beast God Fruit truly had been used to its fullest potential.
After confirming once again that all of Rory’s vitals remained stable, the tight knot in Yuel’s chest finally loosened.
The moment Rory finished one Beast God Fruit, Yuel immediately handed her another.
Rory stared thoughtfully at the fruit in her hand before suddenly speaking.
"Yuel... do you think the Beast God is actually some kind of prophet? Maybe he already knew I’d need to save Vincent. Maybe that’s why he gave me these Beast God Fruits as a matching reward—so I could rapidly replenish my blood."
Yuel arched a brow, amusement flickering across his face.
"I always thought the Beast God gave you those fruits as compensation for dumping Vangar onto your lap."
"No, something’s not right." The more Rory thought about it, the more suspicious she became. "I think he’s been using me as free labor. He dumped Vangar on me, then gave me Beast God Fruits so I could use them later to save Vincent."
She narrowed her eyes. "After all this work, I haven’t gotten a single extra benefit out of it."
Rory gritted her teeth. "That old man is shameless. One of these days, I’m going to Divine Beast Mountain myself and demand an explanation."
At this point, she was even beginning to suspect that her transmigration into this world had something to do with the Beast God too.
Meanwhile, as more and more of Rory’s blood flowed into Vincent’s body, changes finally began to appear.
His tightly shut lashes trembled uneasily.
Pain slowly surfaced across his pale, beautiful features, and beads of cold sweat formed along his temples.
Then his long body suddenly began to twitch uncontrollably.
"Yuel, what’s happening to him?"
The sight made Rory’s heart clench painfully.
Yuel immediately turned toward the monitoring screens.
"Don’t worry. This is a normal reaction. The insectoid genes inside him have sensed danger. They’re resisting your genes."
Almost the moment Yuel finished speaking, Rory saw something horrifying unfold beneath Vincent’s skin.
Strange dark-purple patterns suddenly lit up across his body.
The markings resembled writhing parasites crawling beneath his flesh, spreading outward from the center of his heart and rapidly covering his entire body.
