Chapter 528: Interesting Reward

Emir's vision cleared as he slipped back into the material realm, the slum lights below cast shadows up to meet him.

He took a deep breath, glancing around to get his bearings, and the sounds of reality settled around him like a familiar, heavy coat.

As expected, he was back on the same rooftop, only instead of being under the rubble, he was above, at the only point where it had yet to fully collapse.

It was all thanks to Mr. Player of course, and he made sure to note that, appreciating him with a smile and wave.

Whether he could currently see him or not didn't matter to Emir, it was the gesture that mattered.

He wasn't one to be ungrateful to those who helped him with no request in return.

After doing that, his face turned ice cold and he looked at the distance where Judas was a few seconds ago.

His eyes slowly moved further along that position, landing on the rooftop of a building in the distance, the same one that they arrived on after teleporting here.

"Flash Step."

Stepping forward, he disappeared, reappearing way above the rooftop where Judas and Judal were waiting by the still-active portal.

Slowly, he descended, looking down at Judas, who turned and stared at him, jaw slack.

"What the hell...?"

Judas shook his head, as if trying to clear a hallucination.

"You're alive?... You're signal was gone and everything."

Emir just smirked, landed in front of him, and strolled right past him, stepping into the portal.

"Better luck next time."

With zero clue about what they were talking about, Judal followed behind the prince but not before giving his brother a wry glance.

"Damn cockroach."

Scoffing, Judas joined them and crossed into the meeting room, dragging the poor woman behind him.@@@@

The familiar feeling of the world twisting around Emir settled, and when he blinked, he was on the other side.

He was met with Amon, Ragnar, and Morgiana, who appeared to be waiting around for a while, with a casual, almost bored air.

Ragnar was the first to react to their arrival, glancing up at Emir with a smile.

"Look who's back! Was about to think that you guys went to have fun."

Emir glanced at Judal and replied with a chuckle:

"Oh, that we did~."

Not caring for his words, Judal went past as did his brother, dragging a dazed-looking woman by the arm.

"Yeah... I don't think her brain will talk. Not after what the Praying Lady's already done. She's an Astral; she wouldn't leave anything loose."

Amon nodded...

"True enough."

Then he glanced back at Emir.

"Anything else I should know about?"

Emir gave a dry chuckle.

"Oh, yeah. Your little friend decided to 'play' me during the mission."

Amon's gaze hardened, but he didn't respond, simply staring at Emir for a while, until

eventually looking away as if he hadn't heard anything.

Just from that reaction alone, many of Emir's thoughts were confirmed.

Amon knew, at least vaguely, what had happened back in the Major Disaster, where Judas

interfered, almost killing all the Hunter Group leaders.

That was to be expected, so Emir's thoughts weren't about that, but about how Amon thought that Judas didn't want to actually kill Emir off, only annoy him to Hell and back.

The reason for that was obvious.

Amon didn't know that Emir's signing of the binding contract was a ruse, quite unlike Judas,

who didn't believe that he had signed one at all.

"Well, if that's all..."

Emir continued, brushing it off:

"Think I'll be cashing in my reward for this mission. I want a meeting with the Ebonfyres'

head, Isidore. VR connection."

Amon quirked an eyebrow, but shrugged, knowing not to cross boundaries.

"Fine. Consider it your payment for the job."

"That's all I wanted... Before the night's over, yeah?"

"Sure, sure."

Amon gave him a dismissive wave, already looking back at the woman, clearly ready to move

on to his next steps.

"Get going."
